Are you a person who wants to earn by writing blogs but doesn’t want to spend even a rupee in the initial stage? You are sure about making money out of blogging, but cannot decide which niche to choose, from where to start? Then, congratulations, you are at the right place. 🤝 Here, you’ll be getting detailed information from scratch about how to make a blog and earn money. The best part is, you won’t get this information that actually works anywhere else on the internet, as I’ll be sharing my personal experience and research. So, I recommend reading the entire content, not just the heading. If you do so, by the end of this blog, you’ll get everything, that’s my assurance to you.
Step 1: Choose a Niche
Niche is basically the category of your website. You need to choose one category. But I know you must have a few questions. Let me answer them for you.
a) How to choose the niche of a blogging website?
Well, the answer is – Think about what you want to write about, what you feel passionate or joyful about, then do some research using AI, and voila, you’ll get your answer.
For example: You can write prompts on a generative AI Chatbot like ChatGPT, “I want to create a blogging website. I like to help other people. Help me choose a niche.” You’ll get multiple options.
b) What if I choose a niche, but after a while, I run out of ideas and topics?
This question crosses every blogger’s mind at least once, I guess. Do not worry, this won’t happen. With AI, there’s 100% surety. Yes, you cannot use AI writings as it doesn’t rank, but you can definitely take ideas from AI.
For example: Ask any generative AI Chatbot, “The niche of my blogging website is Mental Health & Personal Development. Generate trending topics for me to write blogs.”
c) I want to write blogs in more than one niche. Is it okay?
If you are creating your blogging website to earn money, the answer is no. Reason: Briefly, we get money via views. Merging different niches will affect ranking too much (your blog won’t rank), and you won’t be able to earn good via blogging. But, don’t worry, I even have a solution for this. Let’s talk about it below.
d) I’m unable to choose one blog niche. I want to write in multiple niches and want my blogging website to rank too. Is there any solution?
Every lock has a key, including this one. So the answer is Yes. But how? Well, you can make different websites for different niches. Once you start writing and start getting views, you’ll get an idea about what’s working and what’s not. Even if all of them work, great, you can later hire interns and employees if you are unable to handle all.
I hope the niche part is clear. Still, if you have any questions, let me know in the comments section. Would love to help you.
Now, let’s move to the next part ❤️
Step 2: Choose the Platform for Your Website
If you want to start for free, choose Blogger. There are many other options too, but in my opinion, Blogger is best. Reason: It is one of the Google products, it gives maximum space, is easy to use, it allows you to apply Google AdSense (to earn money via showing ads on your blog) even on a free website (other platforms don’t support Google AdSense on free websites), etc.
So, keep the plan simple. Create your blog > start posting > once you start getting good views/your blog gets monetized, get your own website and transfer your data to it.
Step 3: Create Your Blog and Start Writing
Whichever platform you choose, set it up. If you choose Blogger, sign up, and fill in all the details asked for. If you get stuck anywhere, research on Google or via AI. Yes, it is that simple.
Once done, start posting your blogs.
Important Tip: Since you want to earn from blogging, remember that writing a blog is not just about good writing, it’s about creating SEO friendly blogs. Do research about what’s trending in your niche, choose long-tail keywords that have good search volumes and low competition (you can check search volumes from websites like Semrush), write original content, etc. In case you need information about writing SEO friendly blogs in detail, let me know in the comment section. I’ll write another blog for you dedicated entirely to this.
Step 4: Promote Your Blog
Since your goal is to get a good number of views on your blog, promotion is very important. But don’t worry, we won’t be spending money on it. We will be taking advantage of SEO. Coming directly to the point, promote your blog on Quora, Reddit, etc. How? Just find relevant questions and spaces, write a natural answer, and include the blog post link in there. Prefer writing in third person (not like you wrote this blog). It gives better views. And remember, don’t write one answer/post and keep copying and pasting it. This way, bots will consider you as spam and will delete your account and answers.
Next, what you can do is make social IDs for your blog on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, X (formerly Twitter), etc. Make relevant content as per the platform and get engagement from there too. There are so many more things you can do to promote. Research and you’ll get so many more ideas. Whichever niche you choose, curate your plan as per that.
Step 5: Enable Monetization
There are several ways to monetize your blog – Display Ads, Affiliate Marketing, Offering Services, and so on…If you are using a free domain, remember to check the norms first. Choose as per the niche and goal of your blog. You can obviously research and learn about all. So I’ll talk just about one, which can be used in all niches, and is a very common way of monetization – Display Ads.
So, when you click on websites and you see ads here and there, that’s display ads. Google AdSense is the most popular platform to enable that for your blog. Though officially it doesn’t have any norm, generally your blog must be at least 3-6 months old, have at least 15 high-quality blogs, have at least 100 visitors per day, etc. If not, your request will get rejected.
There are platforms like Ezoic, Mediavine, AdThrive, etc., where even with very less visitors you can get your blog monetized. And they pay more than AdSense. But you cannot get it approved for a free domain. Maybe later, you can check these too.
Bonus
Now, let’s discuss a few more things that will be beneficial for your blog.
1. Grammarly: Search engine bots love good content with no grammatical errors. They rank them better. So, use grammar checker websites like Grammarly to rectify your written content.
2. Use Royalty-Free Images: If you use images from someone else’s website or any place, search engine bots recognize that and they hate it. This way, your website’s ranking goes down. So, always prefer royalty-free images. You can find them on websites like Pexels, Unsplash, Freepik, etc., or you can design your own by using websites like Canva.
That’s all for this blog.
